BREAST PAIN

Breast pain (mastodynia) alone is not significant for breast cancer.

Breast pain (mastodynia) alone is not a significant sign of breast cancer. Breast cancer is an insidious disease and generally does not cause pain. The most common cause of pain, aching, and tension in the breast is hormonal changes. In women with fibrocystic changes, the pain can be more pronounced due to hormonal changes. Pain and tension are particularly pronounced before menstruation due to the surge in hormones. Pain from breast cancer is rare, but pain can be experienced in some advanced breast cancers.
