FIBROCYSTIC DISEASE
The condition in which cystic developments in the breast are frequently observed, which was defined as fibrocystic disease for years, is no longer considered a disease and is called fibrocystic structure.
For years, the condition characterized by cystic growths in the breast, often referred to as fibrocystic disease, is no longer considered a disease and is now referred to as fibrocystic eczema. Fibrocystic eczema is now considered a form of normalcy and is inherent in nature. In other words, it's a genetically determined trait, like blue or brown eyes or being blonde or brunette. It's seen in approximately 40-50% of women. Fibrocystic eczema also brings with it a number of other characteristics, including increased fibrosis, cystic growths, and prominent milk ducts. Fibrocystic eczema alone is not a risk factor for breast cancer.
